First and foremost, I want to welcome you to my website! It is truly a blessing for my website to be where it is, and I am thankful for everyone's support!
Let me tell you a little bit about myself...
I am 26 years old and I was raised in Detroit, MI. for most of my life. I am of Nigerian decent, with both my mother and father being immigrants from there. I have a younger brother who is super AWESOME and looks a lot like me (his blog: ChimaHD).
I graduated from Cody High School in Detroit in June of 2005 and went on to obtain my degree in Earth Systems Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan--Ann Arbor, in May 2010. Although my degree is extremely technical in nature, I have ALWAYS had a passion for education. This passion dates all the way back to my younger years, when I had difficulty with math (of all subjects, lol!) and started having to teach myself a lot of the concepts at a very young age. As I grew older, I saw how much my fellow classmates struggled to learn concepts in class. It wasn't until I met kids from suburban school districts that I realized how disadvantaged my classmates and myself really were. I made it a point to do whatever it took to get into a good school and graduate.
Now, I see several students in the same, if not worse situation than I was in during grade school and it breaks my heart. I know the kids in my old neighborhood have great potential and my goal is to develop it as best as I can. I believe that I have been to called to service by God to work with children. I have a vision that one day Detroit will become a thriving city again, both financially and academically. With unwavering faith I know that all things are possible though Christ Jesus! I am currently a MA thesis student studying Minority and Urban Education at the University of Maryland--College Park. I know that God is doing some great things in my life and I give Him all of the praise!
